TRJE 098: American Prudes

This week Regis Jack talks about stealing passwords (bad), a man who is suing Facebook for 84% ownership (still bad), naked people (good) and other stuff (some bad, some good).

I reminisced about the Rubiks cube and get off on a rant because of security risk I saw at a local restaurant.  After that, it just went down hill.  Let’s see, some guy is suing Facebook for ownership, what to do when your parents join Facebook, how a woman went one year without sex (her choice) and wrote a book about it, why NEVER to talk to the cops or you get tasered, sending racy texts, how Obama compares to Hitler (FYI, they don’t), a short bit on European nudes and I end on a high note – passports going to sex offenders.

As for the picture this week… I don’t get it either.

TRJE 088: Flash on the iPhone?

This week Regis Jack talks about Defendor on DVD, Teaching your damn kids about life, the joke of FaceBook privacy and a wee bit of Flash on the iPhone.

flash,iphone,trje088This weeks pictures was provided by a friend of mine.  He didn’t understand the big issue.  Seems Flash on the iPhone works just fine.  I loved it soooo much I had to repurpose it for my own selfish reasons.

This time around I talk about Woody Harrelson in Defendor – I enjoyed his performance and the movie as whole.  It’s definitely not for everyone.  I get on my soapbox, complaining that parents don’t teach kids anything, let alone how to be responsible.  They just keep pushing laws to protect our children.  Let’s baby our kids as much as possible so they cannot survive in the real world.  Next up is my take on FaceBook privacy – which started with this article from Jason Calacanis.

Blogging Hell

I started blogging many years ago, long before it was called blogging.  My first “blog” was an essay about how any pathetic loser (including myself) could make themselves a web page, express themselves for all to see and completely mess up the ability for search engines to return useful information.  And while that was true all those years ago, it is even worse now.

Ever since mainstream Web 2.0 threw up on pop culture with MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku, Plurk, Identica, Rejaw, Laconica, Friendfeed and a myriad of other similar services, it has allowed every moron and their pets to think they are bloggers as they express themselves in status messages that are about 140 characters long.  This phenomena, known as microblogging, has been the worse thing to hit the internet since HTTP.

I'm Afraid of Americans

I’ve always said I’m not political.  And when I say that I mean I’m not a republican, democrat, liberal, or even a conservative.  As a matter of fact, I don’t even know what it means to be republican or democrat.  And that’s because I believe in freedom, safety, privacy, the pursuit of happiness and common sense – most of which has nothing to do with politics anymore.  I believe there should be equal power among the house and senate between both parties (which may never be possible) and there should be a better voting mechanism to allow more bills/issues can be voted on by the public.  I also believe that a bill should be brief and too the point and contain only 1 subject.   But this isn’t the issue I want to talk about.

TRJE 062: Privacy Schmivacy

This week Regis Jack rants about IMAX Star Trek, Roz Savage, Dragon Con, Social Networks, HD TV and other stuff.

Alrighty then, another week and another podcast, netcast, or whatever the hell they are calling it this week.  I give a shout out to Roz Savage who has completed the 2nd leg of her row across the Pacific, a bit of Dragon Con information along with a bit of PAX mixed in.

I didn’t watch any new movies this week, but I did see the most recent Star Trek at the local IMAX theatre – huge screen and 12,000 watts of sounds!  The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson is now in High Def, which is absolutely awesome, but I’ve noticed that many of the other HD shows on TV are not really HD.  Some are stretched, some have been panoramic’d (is that a word?), and others have just been zoomed in – which is bad because there is a widescreen version of some of these shows that could be shown. I also talk a bit about Top Gear (the best car show on TV).

Since TV and movies were in short supply I spent some time on privacy on the social networks, which turns out does NOT exist (big surprise) and how to eat M&M’s.

In this episode there is a clip from No Agenda, with Adam Curry and John C Dvorak – I’ve always wanted to talk about these drug commercials on TV and their long list of side effects, but they do such a good job, I thought I’d give them praise by including it here.

And as always, we thank our sponsor RegisJack.com – BUY SOMETHING!!! PLEASE!!!

This is episode #062 for Monday, September 7, 2009 and clocked in at 37 minutes 26 seconds.
